Shoe Carnival EnVisions Innovative Wall Solution

Shoe Carnival 1st FloorIn 2007, Shoe Carnival, Inc. completed the construction of their new headquarters in Evansville, Indiana. They faced a unique design issue in the building's two-story, open-plan lobby due to its large, blue-tinted glass windows. During daylight hours, natural light streamed in through the window, but after the sun went down, the look and feel was dramatically changed. Despite the painters' best efforts, the metallic paint on the lobby walls showed roller marks and did not give the dramatic effect that Shoe Carnival executives were looking for.

Shoe Carnival 2nd FloorThe solution proved elegant in its simplicity. Finding the right look just took some vision. Or more precisely, EnVision, which is a unique collection of earth friendly wallcoverings from Roos International of Deerfield Beach, Florida. The product was presented to Shoe Carnival by Ken Tirey of Fashion Wallcoverings of Cleveland, Ohio.

Shoe Carnival was pleased that EnVision helped them solve a design problem, while also helping them be environmentally responsible. Among its many sustainable characteristics, PVC-free EnVision is an effective green alternative to traditional vinyl wallcoverings and its breathability significantly reduces the risk of mold and mildew.

"Shoe Carnival was interested in something for the environment as well as a product that made economic sense. EnVision solved both situations. It's a good product. And it looks fantastic and adds a touch of elegance."

Designer "EnVisions" Perfect Hotel Wallcovering

Holiday Inn Guest BathroomsJeanette Brewer, founder and president of The Design Group in Clearwater, FL, has been designing the interiors of nationally famous hotels and restaurants for almost 30 years. She has learned which brands of products provide both sustainable performance along with striking aesthetic appeal. Her hospitality client list includes Holiday Inn, Ramada, Hampton Inn, Hilton, LaQuinta and several others.

When it comes to wall covering, one of her favorite choices is the Envision® collection from Roos International. That’s why she selected it for the elevator lobbies, corridors and meeting rooms of the new Holiday Inn in Winter Haven, Florida.

“I have been dealing with Roos for over 10 years now. They have always been professional and their product collections offer a good value, excellent durability and some really attractive design patterns,” Jeanette explained.

Holiday Inn HallwayIt took the Design Group staff nearly a year to design the interiors of the 112-room hotel, which was completed last January. Jeanette selected two patterns from the Roos Envision collection.

“In the corridors and elevator lobbies, I picked the Botanical leaf pattern in Nile Green because the design has a soothing and calming effect. In the conference rooms we went with the Envision® Marble pattern in Nile Green because it projects more of a corporate atmosphere since it is mostly a business hotel,” Jeanette revealed.

Deborah Roos, president of Roos International describes the Envision collection as “a PVC- free alternative to traditional vinyl. The collection appeals to all markets from hospitality to healthcare and even commercial offices and retail store design.”

Holiday Inn ConferenceEnVision® combines the innovative use of a textural, natural fibrous non-woven polyester cellulose substrate with clean, contemporary colors and designs. The result is a new generation of wall covering that combines aesthetics, performance, and earth friendly characteristics all in one.

A recent third-party analysis of EnVision® revealed that the product can qualify to assist in providing credit points for projects registered under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Rating System because it includes both recycled and renewable content, does not contain harmful PVC’s, VOC’s or heavy metals and can be recycled after it’s usable lifespan.

EnVision® can help qualify for several points in LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC), LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) and the new LEED for Existing Buildings: Operation & Maintenance (LEED-EB:O&M). Available points vary, depending on application, quantity used and other project circumstances.

The Holiday Inn franchise owners, Intercontinental Hotel Group, were extremely impressed with the EnVision® application as well as all of The Design Group’s interior choices.
